How to fix glass splashbacks

Glass splashbacks are a fantastic way to enhance your homes visual appeal. Suitable for use anywhere in the home, they’re regularly found in kitchens, protecting the walls from cooking spills. But what happens when one is damaged in some way? Can it be repaired? Let’s take a closer look at some of the common types of damage and find out.
A common problem with glass splashbacks is the occurrence of cracks. Well, when the incorrect glass is used anyway. When located behind the hob, toughened glass has to be used, otherwise cracks can occur from the high temperatures. In order to cover a crack, you could attempt to stick another splashback over the top of it. However, that will create an uneven finish, affecting the visual appeal negatively. Therefore, a replacement is recommended.
Dirt behind the splashback
Another regular issue with glass splashbacks is dirt seeping in behind them. This occurs when the edges weren’t sealed properly during installation. It’s possible to remove it off the wall yourself and clean it with a mild soap detergent and non-abrasive cloth. A guide for removing a glass splashback can be found here. However, this is very time consuming and may damage your splashback, especially if it’s been bonded to the wall and not screwed onto it.
